State of Georgia Selects Lancope for Network Security

ATLANTA, Ga., January 28, 2003 - Lancope Inc. today announced that the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA), a state agency that oversees information technology and telecommunications services, has selected the StealthWatch behavior-based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) as a fundamental component of its network security infrastructure.

As an important security application for the Georgia Enterprise Portal, StealthWatch will protect against known, unknown, mutated, encrypted and Denial of Service (DoS) network attacks. The state's portal, www.georgia.gov, provides a single point of access to online government information and services. Currently, it attracts 1.5 million page visits per month.

"GTA is responsible for guarding the state's data network against all forms of malicious activity," said Bob Wynn, Georgia's chief information security officer and director of GTA's Office of Information Security. "GTA's selection of StealthWatch fortifies our information security architecture. With solutions like StealthWatch, we're enhancing the security of the state's information infrastructure."

Wynn added, "StealthWatch is a robust solution that complements our existing information technology investments and ensures a unified layered approach to security."

Wynn said he encourages all organizations to deploy firewall technology and strengthen their IDS systems with a combination of signature- and behavioral-based systems.

"The ability to detect unknown attacks makes StealthWatch an ideal solution for government networks that demand sophisticated technology and unsurpassed information security," said Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. "We designed StealthWatch to solve real-world security problems and to fit in seamlessly with rigid environments."
