Lancope Joins Industry Leaders To Deliver Network World Security Technology Tour
Lancope, Foundry Networks, HP, IBM and VeriSign Address the Most Pressing Security Issues Facing Network IT Executives at Free One-Day Event
ATLANTA, Ga., May 16, 2003 - Lancope, Inc., the leading provider of Advanced Threat Protection solutions, today announced that it has joined Foundry Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY), HP's ProCurve Networking group (NYSE:HP), IBM (NYSE: IBM) and VeriSign, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN) in sponsoring the Network World Technology Tour "Security: Protecting Your Enterprise and Its Assets." The free one-day security event is offered in four cities in May 2003 and features Joel Snyder, a PhD in Management Information Systems, senior partner of Opus One and internationally recognized expert in the area of telecommunications and networks, who will show how to select and implement the most effective and efficient network tools.
Snyder and a team of top security providers will share the following best practices with participants:
• Conducting vulnerability assessments
• Embedding security in handhelds, laptops and other mobile devices
• Deploying intrusion detection and tools
• Evaluating the right VPN
• Ensuring end-to-end security for broadband and wireless users
• Developing and testing on-site and off-site disaster recovery/backup plans
• Improving network protection with common tools such as firewalls and virus scanners
"Lancope proudly joins fellow industry leaders and Network World in empowering network and IT professionals to make the best decisions for protecting their enterprise networks," said Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. "Today's organizations face an unlimited range of internal and external security threats. Despite industry estimates that up to 70% of security breaches are internal, past security initiatives have mainly focused on securing the perimeter. The open and dynamic nature of current enterprise networks demands innovative solutions that protect critical digital assets and assure continuous network availability."
He adds, "Now, more than ever, it is critical for organizations to deploy next generation products like StealthWatch™ that protect the core of their network by providing comprehensive security and network intelligence, detecting zero-day attacks and enforcing security policies across the network and its devices."
"There has to be a sense of sophistication to whatever you install so that corporate data is not compromised," added Sandra Gittlen, events editor at Network World, Inc. "The companies joining us on the tour will tackle the intricacies of developing a plan. They will discuss how to build security into the gear; integrate security management with traditional network management; embed security in remote desktops and mobile laptops; use new technologies such as intrusion prevention and detection to go beyond perimeter security; and employ encryption and certificates to restrict access.
