Lancope® PRESS RELEASE
Lancope Ships StealthWatch System 5.8 for Increased Network Visibility through Network Behavior Analysis
Upgrade Further Leverages NetFlow and sFlow to Deliver IPv6 Support, Application Monitoring, Risk Management, Network Performance Management
Atlanta, July 29, 2008 — Lancope®, Inc., the provider of the StealthWatch System, the most widely used network behavior analysis (NBA) and response solution, today announced the general availability of StealthWatch System 5.8. The system-wide upgrade includes powerful new features that further utilize flow data, including Cisco IOS NetFlow™ or sFlow®, to significantly extend the scalability and value of behavior-based anomaly detection and network performance monitoring for enterprise organizations. Key benefits of this release are IPv6 support and visibility, application awareness, risk management and network performance management that support numerous IT initiatives, including WAN optimization, PCI compliance, MPLS migrations, IPv6 rollouts and data leakage prevention.
“This release introduces a market breakthrough with flow-based enterprise-wide visibility of IPv6 communications that demonstrates the maturity of Lancope’s flow collection technology,” said Adam Powers, CTO of Lancope. “StealthWatch proactively responds to market drivers, such as IPv4 address space depletion, Windows Vista and U.S. Federal mandates, that increase the demand for IPv6 support in network monitoring solutions.”
“We are very excited about this release of StealthWatch. As the national IPv6 test center for Ireland and with over 40 active projects, it is critical for us to gain visibility into IP6 networks," said Jerry Horgan, chief infrastructure officer of the Telecommunications Software & Systems Group (TSSG, http://www.tssg.org) of Waterford Institute of Technology. “StealthWatch is one of the first high quality IPv6 solutions for monitoring and visualizing network traffic. With its ability to analyze both NetFlow and sFlow data, StealthWatch quickly shows us the 'who, what, when and where' of network traffic.”
Powers added, “StealthWatch delivers enterprise wide picture of communications and interdependencies between users, applications, and systems to expedite troubleshooting and proactively address network performance issues. Once more Lancope raises the industry standard of excellence for all flow-based technologies by anticipating enterprise demands for cost-effective, scalable network visibility solutions that support emerging network technologies.”
StealthWatch System 5.8 introduces the following capabilities:
IPv6 Monitoring
By providing network visibility of IPv6 networks, StealthWatch helps enterprises manage risk, reduce the mean time to resolution (MTTR) and improve the end user experience. StealthWatch’s pervasive monitoring delivers visibility before, during and after IPv6 rollouts to minimize threats, such as neighbor discovery attacks, amplification attacks, application vulnerabilities and tunneling.
Application Visibility
StealthWatch enhances the end user experience on ever changing networks by unifying flow data with application layer detail to provide critical insight into traffic, user and application behaviors. In doing so, StealthWatch quickly identifies and responds to unauthorized application usage to secure and optimize networks. Enterprises can now use StealthWatch behavioral analysis and response to aid WAN optimization.
Risk Management
Introducing powerful network security capabilities that support multiple, ongoing compliance initiatives, StealthWatch’s newly enhanced bot detection and packet capture search capabilities dramatically reduce network risk by minimizing MTTR. Building on principles of segregation of duties and least privilege, StealthWatch also extends its Point-of-View™ technology to allow definition of alert notifications and data access by role. Other enhancements include deepening integrations with existing network infrastructure and third-party technologies to authenticate users and provide high availability credentials.
Anywhere Access
In this version Lancope now enables clientless StealthWatch configuration and data access, providing almost ubiquitous access to critical network visibility via its web services API, which now supports both zone configuration and host information queries from external systems, and a new web user interface that not only enables anywhere access to StealthWatch intelligence, but also tracks user access and activity.
Network Troubleshooting
With powerful new dashboard views of flow data and increased flexibility for building reports, StealthWatch continues to maximize productivity and minimize administration efforts to expedite network health communications with management for documents requiring slight alterations. With this version, StealthWatch’s intuitive workflow helps resolve network incidents faster than ever.
